How Do I Have a Successful Marriage?
Some say it’s Fun and Confidence
“Key ingredients in a couple’s long-term success in marriage include confidence in their ability to last, a belief that they have the skills to make a good marriage, persistence in their commitment to the union -
and a frequent dash of fun.”
- Karen S. Peterson, USA TODAY
Some say it’s The Golden Rule
“If you want to be treated extra special, then make an extra effort to make your spouse feel the same way. The kindness, sweetness, affection and love that you give will be reciprocated. Every day do at least one nice thing for your spouse. A marriage will not flourish if you do not exert time and effort. Give love, care and attention and you will be nurtured in return.”
- Popular Marriage Website
Some say it’s Education and Seminars
“The No. 1 thing my husband and I would have done differently when we were getting [married] would have been to pursue marriage education.”
- Paula Bisacre, THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Some say it’s Finding the S-E-C-R-E-T in Marriage
S = Sort out roles.
E = Expectations that are real.
C = Commitment.
R = Responsibility.
E = Effective communication.
T = Time management.
- Dick Innes.
Some say it’s Communication
“Communicate. Make sure your sentences have verbs. Remember that only 7 percent of communication is verbal. Actions and non-verbal communication speak much louder.”
- Dr. Phil
Some say it’s Honesty
“Honesty. Its very important to be honest with your spouse because you are a team. It is not fair for one of the members of your team to not know everything about the marriage when it comes to finances, where you were last night and a great many other things. You will save yourself a lot of grief if you keep truthful.”

Some say…
“Successful marriage has no formula”
- Stephanie Oforka, VANGARD NEWS
What does God say about Marriage?
“Every Saturday and Sunday we will discover God’s plan for your marriage.”

Welcome to The Grind
The Grind is a Life Group of Grace Outreach Center that is designed to help married couples sharpen their marriages and connect with other couples that are in the same stages of life. Through studying of God’s Word, engaging discussions and special guests, couples can grow closer to God and each other through the ministry of The Grind.
We believe that a person’s relationship with God is the most important relationship you will have and influences all other areas of a person’s life. A strong vertical relationship with God typically translates into strong horizontal relationships with your spouse and others. A healthy, consistent relationship with God is top priority and leads to living a life of purpose.
Our special guest speakers include couples that have many years of marriage experience that can share with you and your spouse how to have thriving marriages. They will be sharing both their successes and failures in marriage so that you can avoid making the same mistakes.
Another aspect of The Grind is community and community outreach. A community is at its best when it is serving others and The Grind is no exception. In addition to regular events that let us get to know each other, we will also be planning special community outreach events for the group.
We always encourage you to bring your friends, to get involved and to live for a greater purpose.
